Nickel and Nickel Winery is all about single varietal, single vineyard wines and the 2017 Sullenger Vineyard is a beautiful Cabernet from the folks at Far Niente. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. 94 Points Robert Parker: "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon John C Sullinger Vineyard has a floral nose with cassis, red cherries and redcurrants plus wafts of pencil shavings and rose hip tea. The medium to full-bodied palate is vivacious with loads of poise and freshness plus firm, grainy tannins, finishing long." The home vineyard of Nickel & Nickel, Sullenger Vineyard is situated behind the winery in the heart of Oakville and just next to Opus One! It is named for John C. Sullenger, who settled the farmstead in the 1880’s. The vineyard’s 30 acres of clay loam soil are planted exclusively to Cabernet Sauvignon.

From 30-acre Cab-exclusive Oakville Sullenger vineyard, located behind the winery, dark Ruby, a rich and dense complex Cab loaded with berry, currant, herb and cedar aromas. On the palate blackberry, plum and sweet cherry flavors with notes of pepper, smoke and sweet herbs. Approachable silky tannins, long ending with a fine sweet smoky cedar and earthy character. Very nice has room to age for a decade or so. Pair this with a USDA Prime!!

Ina vertical with the 2018, this was a really nice wine but paled in comparison to the 2018. This has a silkier mouth feel and dense dark red and brambly fruit that is more compacted than balanced. Delicious it is own right and with food.
