Neal Family Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

$45

A delicious new 2009 Cabernet from Neal Family Vineyards, one of our newest discoveries in top-tier Napa Cabernet. Cab fans don't miss this opportunity to try this beauty before it sells out. The Neal Family 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is strikingly deep and dark ruby in color. An intoxicating mixture of cherries, black cassis, sweet oak, violet and cigar box spice rises from the glass. Layers of ripe Bing cherries, raspberries and semi-sweet cocoa dominate the mid-palate giving this wine a nice backbone and plenty of structure. The fruit is present with firm tannin and a nice acidity provides a beautiful balance. Brown sugar and a creme brulee- induced finish that lingers for more than 30 seconds.  Will reward you handsomely after cellaring for some additional time or if decanted when young. Los Angeles Times: "...the Neal Family Napa Valley Cabernet is succulent, generous and completely on point, a rich wine possessing fine, pristine, tannins to give the wine grip and precision."

A sort of classical style of old Cali cabs... Big and dusty with enough oak to give some earthy, coffee-ish tannins. The fruit is dark and structured. Age worthy, and probably should be aged...

Getting into secondary stuff but still a baby. Released after the 2010 and mostly from Howell mtn

Particularly soft and supple considering its mostly mountain fruit. Was expecting more depth and aggressive tannins but it was very elegant and pretty.

PnP. Unfortunately it had to follow some great wines and was over the hill. Medium red color and dominated by stewed fruit and hints of graphite. Bordeaux like nose but rough on the palate at this point. Last bottle.

PnP’d. Complete opposite of the AG cab. Smoky, earthy, and meaty. Medium depth. Hardly any fruit.

Neal never stops impressing!!! Would have guessed Bordeaux all the way. 1hr+ decant. Nose of dark cherries, cedar, and menthol. Blue and black fruit on the palate with well integrated alcohol. Medium depth and medium plus finish. Reminds me of Chateau Pontet-Canet but 1/5 of the price. Neal rocks!!

Great on its own. Will be even better once those bad boys are done and ready.
