One of the longest continuous estate bottled production Chardonnays in North America! This wine is considered one of the longest-lived white wines produced in California. Very limited. 95 Wine Spectator #5 Wine Of The Year: "Spicy, toasty, aromatic oak offers an enticing start, with a fresh, vibrant core of lemon-lime, lemon curd, white peach and stone fruit that is very tight, dense, focused and persistent. Ends with a juicy Key lime aftertaste. Drink now through 2029." Taut and vibrant, the 2012 Chardonnay is one of this winery’s finest. The lifeblood of owners Jeffrey and Ellie Patterson, this tiny winery in Saratoga is one of California’s underappreciated treasures. Mount Eden is a labor of love, producing small amounts of Cabernet, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Chardonnay comes from two shy-bearing parcels on the mountaintop, giving a mix of ripe and structured cuvées that spend a year in French oak and undergo full malolactic fermentation. The wines are styled to age for 10 years or longer.

Quite a debate about is this skunky, and if it is, how do you define it. To me, it was definitely a bit sulphuric with some burnt popcorn. Fruit is fairly subdued throughout...more grilled buttered pineapple and cashew. Out of the two, this definitely appeals to the French crowd. Thanks for the intro to this @Benjamin Keator !

Dry nicely balanced Chardonnay. Integrated oak and subtle fruit up front. Persistent finish and good acidity along the way.

Quite restrained but with plenty of power. Oak supports rather than dominates. Beautiful

Just rich enough, tight, pithy, grippy. Good for another 15 years, methinks.

Unreleased MEV Chard. Delicious. Slate, store fruit and the most incredible acidity that carries for 45+ seconds.

I tried it slightly chilled was excellent, then fully chilled it lost some of the flavors I tasted before. A great wine that I held for several years before serving.
