99 Points                                                               Morlet makes some of the most coveted wines in Sonoma and all of California. These are some of the top-scoring wines of the vintage. Limited. 99 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "Flirting with perfection, the Morlet 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Passionnement has a Léoville Las Case-like regalness in its crème de cassis, graphite, camphor, charcoal, and gravelly minerality. Full-bodied, incredibly concentrated, yet pure, structured, and on point, this sensational Cabernet Sauvignon needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will cruise for 2+ decades in cold cellars......I loved these latest releases from Luc Morlet and family, and they show a sensational mix of classic, balanced, even old-school, characters mixed with killer California fruit. As a whole, the 2014s show more elegance and complexity, with the 2015s possessing more power and richness. These are rockstar wines." In St. Helena, the heart of the Napa Valley, Luc and Jodie Morlet handcraft vins de terroirs and unique cuvées from the surrounding Napa Valley and Sonoma Coast. Meticulously farmed vineyards and low-intervention winemaking techniques produce powerful yet refined wines displaying personality, complexity and graceful aging capability. By taking Old World principles and adapting them to California, the Morlet style results in wines which are harmonious in their intensity, richness and refinement. Unwavering commitment to quality leads to small yields, attentive sorting, and the highest standard when blending. Thus, a very limited amount of each wine is produced.

A stunning wine that opens up nicely after a quick decant. Great structure and tannins that don’t overwhelm. In a good spot now but could easily be cellared for the longer term as well. Dense red fruit followed by some mocha that shows after some air. Hints of spice give it nice complexity as well. Will revisit my next bottle in a couple of years.
