Morlet Family Vineyards Morlet Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

$350

Les Petits Morlet is the offspring (second label) to their mature Cabernet Sauvignon bottlings. Limited. 99 Points Brix26: "Displaying a very intense bouquet of black currant, candied red and black cherries and mocha, intermixed with hints of blond tobacco leaves and earthy notes of leather and toasted red pepper. The Morlet 2019 Les Petits Morlet Cabernet possesses youthful, yet sweet tannins and is characterized by its overall richness, suave character and approachability." Jodie and Luc Morlet, whose family owns Pierre Morlet & Fils in Champagne, founded their own wine estate in St. Helena, California in 2006. Ever since then they have been producing countless vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah. They have specialized in taking winemaking techniques from the Old World and adapting them to California’s terroir. The result is intense, rich, and complex wines that have the utmost refinement and are served at the most prestigious tables and shared by wine connoisseurs and collectors. Named in honor of our children, ‘Les Petits Morlet’ represents their passion, optimism and future. “Morlet, who hails from the Champagne region of France, is on a hot streak in terms of the quality of the exquisite wines he’s producing/ This is an extraordinary lineup of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Noir, and possibly the finest 100% Cabernet Franc ever made in California, his Force de la Nature.” –Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

2018 vintage. From Coravin. First or second best old or new Napa Cab nose I've smelled this year. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Phenomenal bouquet. Grippy mountain fruit vibes. Lean and mean up front with some meat and softness near the caboose. Neither directly old or new school but evoking certain echoes of both while attempting to carve out a unique path/destiny. 10.24.24.
