Mollydooker Blue Eyed Boy Shiraz 2016

$55.99

Mollydooker is a hot new label from Australia - try one of the highest-rated Shiraz' evrey while its still available. 95 Points Robert Parker: "The opaque purple-colored Blue-Eyed Boy Shiraz spent 12 months in 80% new American oak. It offers up an enticing nose of cedar, tobacco, mineral, blueberry, and black raspberry. Opulent on the palate, this glossy effort will evolve for another 1-2 years but can be enjoyed now and over the next decade."   Mollydooker (the Australian equivalent of “Southpaw”– both Sparky and Sarah Marquis are left-handed) is the label of the renowned winemaking team of Sparky and Sarah Marquis.

One of my favorite Australian wines. I spilled this wine on my carpet several years ago and had to replace the carpet. It’s the most intense red coloring of any wine, absolutely stunning.

Dark ink color, light cherry red rim. Floral aromas with caramel, vanilla and raspberries. Amazing flavors! Bursting with black and blue berries, cocoa and beautiful dry finish.

Cor intensa, grande vinho australiano. Aroma encantador, paladar lembrando marmelada, banana madura. Final suave. Taninos macios.

Had it as a part of wine tasting- comparing Syrah and Shiraz. I have to say that I prefer lightness and brightness of Syrah over Shiraz. Shiraz is too much in your face, bold, oaky, very, very pronounced blackberry taste (at least this Shiraz).

Lots of berry with zest, cream and spice. Good but too young. 5-8 years would have been perfect.
