Mollydooker is a hot new label from Australia - try one of the highest-rated Shiraz' evrey while its still available.95 Points Robert Parker: "The opaque purple-colored Blue-Eyed Boy Shiraz spent 12 months in 80% new American oak. It offers up an enticing nose of cedar, tobacco, mineral, blueberry, and black raspberry. Opulent on the palate, this glossy effort will evolve for another 1-2 years but can be enjoyed now and over the next decade." Mollydooker (the Australian equivalent of “Southpaw”– both Sparky and Sarah Marquis are left-handed) is the label of the renowned winemaking team of Sparky and Sarah Marquis.

Refer to previous Delectable Notes 5 years ago in July 2018. No changes to now. Black fruits - currant and berry. Rich, mouth filling, full bodied and delicious - the sort of wine that created a big profile for Mollydooker in the USA. The 16%ABV is not apparent. As I said in the previous note, definitely a crowd pleaser and a great wine on a cold night. One bottle left which I will probably have next winter.

Dense dark ruby almost black. A little closed after the initial decant. Coconut Oak and ripe black fruits. A big full bodied palate with the ripe fruit hiding the 16% Alcohol. Finishes with supple smooth tannins. A great wine for Winter - you could not drink this on a hot day. Easy to like and the best value of their many Cuvees - this is a good formula for Mollydooker. Not sure I could take more density and concentration like the Velvet Glove. Will have a bottle of the Carnival of Love in a few weeks.

Deep Ruby almost black. Very ripe black fruit notes. On the palate luscious berry flavours. Too much for some but overall it's a crowd pleaser. So much flavour it almost disguises the 16% alcohol. Enough stuffing to cellar for a further 5 to 10 years.

My favorite producer in the land down under since every one of their bottles are consistently good irrespective of the price.

This vintage was much better at harnessing the alcohol content. Much smoother than expected.
