Mayacamas Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

$219

96 Points                                 Wine Spectator #2 Wine of 2019!  A great release from this legendary Napa estate perched high atop Mount Veeder. Owner/winemaker Bob Travers’ final vintage as former Screaming Eagle winemaker Andy Erickson takes over.  Limited. 96 Points Wine Spectator: "Youthfully compact, with tightly wound black currant, bitter plum and dark blueberry notes, this needs time to meld with the charcoal, bay leaf and tar streaks, but the mouthwatering cut on the finish suggests that won't be a problem. Offers a long echo of juniper at the end. Best from 2023 through 2040" High on the slopes of Mount Veeder, Mayacamas Vineyards has been a source of legendary California wine since 1889. Since the 1950ʼs the vinification and élevage of Mayacamas remains remarkably consistent and our continued commitment to employ classical techniques and tools is integral to the character of these wines. The mountain terroir at Mayacamas ranges from 1,800 to 2,400 feet in elevation and the estate spans 475 acres, only 50 of which are dedicated to vine. The regionʼs richly intense, age-worthy wines reflect the independent spirit of its mountain growers and vintners, borne of rugged conditions that demand craftsmanship at the highest level.

Disappointing. Not even close to being worth the price tag. Flat and uninspiring. Some red fruit, but largely tasted like a $30 cab. No issues with the bottle I could make out, cork was fine. Have another one … hoping this was just a strange ‘1-off’ miss
