Mark Herold's new Flux is a delicious blend of Grenache, Syrah, Petite Sirah and Carignan. Try this great new release whil it's still available. Wine Spectator: "Firm and dry, with notes of cedar, red and black fruit, graphite and pencil shavings. The drying tannins give the flavors traction, with a cigar box edge. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Drink now through 2022." Robert Parker: "This is a beautiful wine from Mark Herold...This lineup is full of delicious, bold wines that deliver tons of pleasure." Taking a queue from the famed Côtes du Rhône region of France, Mark's California version greets you with a cheerful ruby red color and whiffs of vibrant sweet and sour cherries intertwined with spicy white pepper. On the palate, luscious crushed raspberries and strawberries play against a fragrant blend of herbes de Provence and dusty baking spices. Medium-bodied and zesty - pairs with just about anything off grill. that's a hint - take it! 84% Grenache, 9% Syrah and 7% Mourvedre. Vibrant now, but has the ability to mellow and impress over the next 5- 7 years.

Hmm.. I'm torn. Don't get me wrong - I like it, it's just not what I remembered. This year's rendition of Mark Herold's Flux is 84% Grenache with a dash of Syrah and Mourvèdre. The nose is great with high toned fresh raspberries and crushed rose, baking spice and olive brine. The palate is really bright with loads of high-toned fruit, very pretty acid, and medium body weight. It's a vibrant and playful wine to be sure, with a beguiling nose.. it's just not the serious wine that I've enjoyed in the past couple of vintages.

Very fruit forward and round, but a little on the hot side for me.

Nice 100% Grenache from Lake County. A bit bold for me, as far as Grenache goes.

I do love Grenache, and Mark Herold did a wonderful job with this 2012 Grenache blend. GSM, w/ 84% Grenache. Happy happy! Soft tannins, a bit of bright red berry.

Well what if I am an alcoholic. This is an amazingly priced 100yr old Mourvèdre vine mark her old flux. 2012 did wonders for this and I can't imagine how great it is to work with such fruit. Long and silky with extremely dark fruit. Mourvèdre is the new hottest thing.

I hated this wine. The only thing that came through for me was ALCOHOL!

My first mostly Grenache red blend. Good fruit, a little light in the body (but I have more cab sauv experience) overall just ok.

Fun, rich grenache in the 20s. Mark herold winemaker. Enjoyable cherry syrup/herb mid-palate. Shorter finish with strawberry notes and good acid.

Ok. I'm in a beach house, by the fire in Carmel, with my wife. Bad wine would taste good. This GSM blend smells of violets and blackberries. Light to medium tannins. Tasty.
