95 Point Wine Spectator: "Polished and complex, featuring ripe black cherry, plum, mint, vanilla, chocolate, leather and tobacco aromas and flavors. Dense and tannic, with concentrated sweet fruit for balance. Finishes long and harmonious. Merlot and Sangiovese. Best from 2017 through 2035." Luce was the first wine created in Montalcino by blending Sangiovese and Merlot. Combining the roundedness and softness of Merlot with the structure and elegance of Sangiovese might seem a rather obvious idea, and yet it took the insight and collaboration of the Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi Families to launch this innovative project in the land of the world renown Brunello di Montalcino, a wine made strictly from Sangiovese.

Tenuta Luce Della Vite ‘Luce’ 2011: Medium-full bodied. Elegant structure & balance. Nicely integrated tannins. Dark fruits. Plum. Tobacco. Vanilla. Oak. Spice. Long velvety-rich finish. Consisting of grape varieties Sangiovese & Merlot, this Tuscan red blend was ripe, fresh & elegant. It was the perfect harmony of depth & purity of fruit. I love this iconic & legendary wine and it was the ideal vintage worthy of this beautiful steak meal. Great day to all! Cheers

Open let this sit. It got better and better. Very tight and tannic when first opened. 1.5 hrs open starts to show fruit Blueberry. Vanilla mint/herb. Not getting as much cherry/mocha as would expect. Very good structure extra long finish.
