Dark, dense and resonant, the 2016 is a wonderfully complete wine that will provide readers with decades of pure drinking pleasure. The 2016 is especially dark and brooding, and yet the tannins are incredibly polished to the point of being perceptible. In the glass, the 2016 is complete and regal, perhaps because of the super-classic blend of 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The pedigree of the vintage comes through in the wine's extraordinary balance and total sense of finesse. This classic vintage of Tignanello has a leg up, albeit slim, over the previous vintage precisely because the protagonist here is Sangiovese. This wine shows a high caliber of fresh primary fruit that is direct and intense. In the mouth, the wine is focused and sharp. Ultimately, the 2016 Tignanello is slightly more streamlined compared to the more fleshy 2015. This adds to the firm elegance you get here." Deep Ruby, aromas of black berry fruit aromas with herb, mint and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and cherry with cacao, vanilla and aromatic spice. Fine graceful tannins, long finish, well balanced, savory ending with oak and juicy earthy mineral tones. Very Nice!

No. 4 wine at the Downs Club Super Tuscan Dinner. No detailed notes Mainly Sangiovese - some Cabernet. Showing some sweet French Oak spice. Ramon reckons the 2017 could be cellared for 10 years whereas the 2016 could be cellared longer. An hour later that sweetness still there.

Another one from last night’s birthday dinner. I had a little left to revisit on day 2 and it is still amazing. What a classic. I could sit with this for a long time. The smokey, deep dark fruit/licorice, and velvety mouthfeel, all make this wine shine. This one will definitely improve with more age. Easily one of the top 5 wines of the year for me.

Another outstanding vintage of this Tuscan Classic blend of Sangiovese (80%) with smaller amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). Dark ruby color. Bountiful nose of currants, violets baking spices, and tobacco. Dark cherry flavors are accented by black licorice, tobacco and vanilla. Hints of crushed stones and toasted nuts on the long finish.
