Marchesi Antinori Tignanello Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2017

$129.99

97 Points - limited super tuscan               New release of the cult Super Tuscan Tignanello!  One of Italy's top wines. Limited. 99 Points Wine Enthusiast "Cellar Selection: "Marchesi Antinori 2016 Tignanello (Toscana). This fragrant, savory red carries aromas of underbrush, plum, blue flower, cocoa and camphor on the nose. The polished palate boasts juicy Marasca cherry, ripe blackberry, licorice, tobacco and an appealing hint of game. Silky tannins and bright acidity keep it balanced and elegant." 98 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2016 Tignanello is flat out stunning. Dark, dense and resonant, the 2016 is a wonderfully complete wine that will provide readers with decades of pure drinking pleasure. The 2016 is especially dark and brooding, and yet the tannins are incredibly polished to the point of being perceptible. In the glass, the 2016 is complete and regal, perhaps because of the super-classic blend of 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The pedigree of the vintage comes through in the wine's extraordinary balance and total sense of finesse. I don't think there is another wine anywhere in the world made entirely from estate fruit that can match Tignanello for quality, consistency and value within its peer group of top-flight reds." 97 Points Robert Parker: "Tasted from barrel, the 2016 Tignanello will be released next year in April. This celebrated red blend is of course mostly Sangiovese with about 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. If 2015 is an ideal vintage for Tuscan blended reds made with the great Bordeaux varieties, the 2016 vintage is better suited to Italian grapes such as Sangiovese. This classic vintage of Tignanello has a leg up, albeit slim, over the previous vintage precisely because the protagonist here is Sangiovese. This wine shows a high caliber of fresh primary fruit that is direct and intense. In the mouth, the wine is focused and sharp. Ultimately, the 2016 Tignanello is slightly more streamlined compared to the more fleshy 2015. This adds to the firm elegance you get here." The Antinori family of Florence, one of the world's oldest and most distinguished wine producers, has lived in Tuscany since the 14th century and celebrated its 625th anniversary as wine makers in 2010.

The Antinori family of Florence, one of the world's oldest and most distinguished wine producers, has lived in Tuscany since the 14th century. Blend of 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cab Sauv & 5% Cab Franc. Deep Ruby, aromas of black berry fruit aromas with herb, mint and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry and cherry with cacao, vanilla and aromatic spice. Fine graceful tannins, long finish, well balanced, savory ending with oak and juicy earthy mineral tones. Very Nice!

No. 4 wine at the Downs Club Super Tuscan Dinner. No detailed notes Mainly Sangiovese - some Cabernet. Showing some sweet French Oak spice. Ramon reckons the 2017 could be cellared for 10 years whereas the 2016 could be cellared longer. An hour later that sweetness still there.

Delicious albeit SUPER COCONUT the oak is clearly present and yet super yummy. The wine has a bright and expressive red fruit profile.

Another one from last night’s birthday dinner. I had a little left to revisit on day 2 and it is still amazing. What a classic. I could sit with this for a long time. The smokey, deep dark fruit/licorice, and velvety mouthfeel, all make this wine shine. This one will definitely improve with more age. Easily one of the top 5 wines of the year for me.

Another outstanding vintage of this Tuscan Classic blend of Sangiovese (80%) with smaller amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). Dark ruby color. Bountiful nose of currants, violets baking spices, and tobacco. Dark cherry flavors are accented by black licorice, tobacco and vanilla. Hints of crushed stones and toasted nuts on the long finish. Creamy texture and fine tannins. Beautiful finesse! Thank You Kasey and Petey!

Неплохое, но не изумительное вино с ярким насыщенным и тёплым вкусом. Однако первый нос несколько недотягивает до приятного предвкушения.

Happy New Year, people! A new year with new challenges, new opportunities, new successes and likely many failures. But also - some new great wine.
