New release from Marchese Antinorio, producer of the legendary Super Tuscan Tignanello! 94 Points James Suckling: "A tight, fruity red with black-cherry and blueberry aromas and flavors. It’s full-bodied with chewy yet fine-grained tannins. Love the polish and focus. Driven and linear. Drink after 2021." 92 Points Robert Parker: "This wine is made with fruit from the 130-hectare Tignanello estate and is Sangiovese with a smaller part Cabernet Sauvignon. The Marchesi Antinori 2017 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchese Antinori is a dark and sultry expression with a higher degree of evident richness and concentration in this vintage that produced smaller, more compact berries. The tannins stand out tallest here, and there is some bitterness that is more in line with my expectations of the vintage. In fact, among these new Marchesi Antinori releases from 2017, this wine most accurately reflects the hot vintage especially in terms of mouthfeel. There is a pretty menthol note on the close. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel, and the wine ages in French and Hungarian oak barrels for one year."

Made with fruit from Tignanello estate, mostly Sangiovese with a splash of Cab Sauv, aged in French and Hungarian oak for 12 months. Deep Ruby with aromas of red and ripe black fruits with notes of floral and sweet spices. On the palate flavors of ripe black cherry, blackberry and currants with cacao, tobacco and vanilla oak. Firm rich tannins, long finish, warm ending with fruit, toasty vanilla and earthy minty tobacco. Good now but will improve over next 5 years.

Tenuta Tignanello ‘Marchese Antinori’ Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2017: Medium-body. Great balance. Nice acidity. Beautiful deep ruby red color. Full aromas of cherry, vanilla & spice and palate flavors of red fruits, plum, blackberry, dried herbs, chocolate, vanilla & soft oak. Fine integrated tannins help to produce a long silky finish. For me, this was a gorgeous Chianti Classico wine and definitely one that is ready to drink & enjoy right now. I’d call it a young Tignanello or Tignanello’s little brother. Go give it a try! Cheers
