Marcassin 2009 Marcassin Vineyard Pinot Noir - extremely limited. 97 Points Wine Spectator: "Amazingly seductive, from the initial aromas of smoky, toasty, creamy vanilla–scented oak to the richer mix of wild berry and raspberry fruit. Lifts midpalate and soars from there, finishing with a pleasing tannic grip and a long, persistent finish. Drink now through 2025." previous vintage 99+ Points Robert Parker: "The mindboggling Pinot Noir Marcassin Estate may be the finest Pinot Noir Wetlaufer and Turley have ever produced. A wine of extraordinary sublimity, intensity, authority and palate presence, it offers wonderfully ripe (but not overripe) blue and red fruits intermixed with notions of forest floor, spring flowers, camphor, plum sauce and a smoky character that I identify with Peking duck. The wine possesses staggering intensity and richness but it is neither heavy nor overbearing. This is an exquisite Pinot Noir the likes of which Marcassin has never before made. It should continue to evolve for two decades."

Good wine but not the style I personally enjoy.

Jack & Arden put together a wonderful evening of delicious food and great wines, and a few of us attendees contributed some bottles to enjoy as well. Great night! Dan was in attendance, which means so is a Marcassin! Incredible, especially after the older vintage wines enjoyed before it. The sheer power and acidity here has this still on its way to peak. Blackberry pie, rhubarb tart, & sandalwood on the nose. Lush and flavor packed without being extracted on the palate. Always a treat @Dan Fitzgerald

Earthy mushroom, figs and cherry nose. More extracted strawberries, cherries and leather on the palate. Smooth and silky mouthfeel but could use a bit more acid.

Another 4th Friday for the books! Insane pulls this month to follow up the most epic month (April) that we’ve ever had! It’s beating the dead horse, but these are just insanely good (though their Blue Slide Ridge pinots are my favorite). The concentration and complexity is what separates these. Acidic on the front palate and the mid palate is Blackberry tart, rhubarb pie, and blueberries. Finish is still tight...years to go.

Big of course. Boatloads of oak of course. But pretty nice length and complexity. Wish it didn't finish quite so hot.

I loved this wine. Bright strawberries and cola, baking spices and a touch of earthiness to balance it all out. It was full bodied and delicious. Who do I have to thank for sharing this beauty?

Not as compact and structured as expected. Surprisingly airy and layered given the producer and age.
