Malk Family Vineyards Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

$79.99

94 pts - new discovery                 A killer Cabernet from the great 2016 vintage.  This is a great small-production gem to discover now. 93 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is the best wine I have tasted from Malk. Dark, pliant and inviting, with terrific fruit purity, the 2016 is very nicely balanced. Dark cherry, plum, violet, spice and menthol all run through this plump, juicy Stags Leap Cabernet. Silky tannins add to the wine's considerable appeal and immediacy. Drink it over the next 15-20 years." previous vintage 94 Points Robert Parker: "The Cabernet Sauvignon has slightly more opaque purple color than the 2012, beautiful bluer-fruit characteristics, with black raspberries, blueberries, slightly more concentration and greater raw materials. Nevertheless, it’s full-bodied and capable of 15 or more years of aging potential with its terrific purity and symmetry. This is a sleeper producer, and I’m happy to have tasted them. Both wines tip the scales at 14.5% alcohol."

Elegant and sophisticated. Dark, smooth and silky. Enough! This excellent wine is balanced from the opening until the end. The dark cherry and plum fruits complement the supple earthy finish. Excellent pairing with Prime Rib, stormy weather and the one you love. I wish this was not my last bottle of this Malk as it can hold for 4-6 more years.
