Louis M. Martini Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

$38

95 points                                           One of the best buys of the year in California Cabernet! Limited. 95 Points Robert Parker: "The Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley spends 18 months in a combination of 30% new and 70% used French and American barrels. It is another big boy at 15.4% natural alcohol. This wine is fabulous. One of the strongest efforts yet from the Martinis, this cuvée still sells at a modest $38.00 – a fair price for something this compelling. The wine has an opaque purple color, a beautiful nose of blueberries, blackcurrants, licorice, camphor and graphite. The wine is full-bodied and multilayered on the palate with sensational richness and length. It should drink well for 20-25 years... ...It is hard to believe that the iconic Louis M. Martini Winery first made Napa Cabernet Sauvignon in 1933. Louis Martini is long gone, but he played a significant role in establishing Napa and Sonoma valleys as premium grape-growing regions. His family has carried on and more recently benefitted from the influx of significant investment from the new owners – the Gallos." The Martini family has been crafting world-class Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa and Sonoma's finest vineyards since 1933.  Founder Louis M. Martini started with this simple premise: the best grapes make the best wines. Today, this tradition carries on at their historic winery in the Napa Valley with a range of unforgettable Cabernet Sauvignon wines.

Bone dry, cassis, leather, and cedar notes. Long tannin finish. Decanted 1/2 hr or more. Consistent Napa terroir throughout.

Typical Napa cab: raspberries fruit and mild tannins. Pleasure to drink by itself or with barbecue dinner as we had.

Good for the Sunday dinner. In Korea I bought it about 40 USD. Thanks E-mart wine sales manager.

I've had 2013 (CS) from this producer. This one isn't worse. A bitter cherry, some vanilla and a leather and earthy notes. During the drinking I've felt longing for "Palermo" (Orin Swift Cellars), my favorite CS from California. But I've promised my self that I'll wait for it to 2022 (I have "Palermo" from 2017 and I want to see how it has changed). Interesting ... so many thoughts about a different wine than the one currently drunk. :)

Stewed cherries and tobacco on the nose, once it opens up, black berries and heavy vanilla. Not super complex but good value Napa and very drinkable

Really a great wine. Went back for more but it was gone. Very flavorful and full bodied as I expect from a cab.
