Loring Wine Company Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir 2013

$32.99

Very limited new release from Brian Loring, a small producer who has the midas touch with Pinot Noir in California.  He sources from the best vineyards in the state and hand crafts some of the finest Pinot Noirs we've tasted.  Limited.previous vintage 93 Points Robert Parker:  "The entry level Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands is a great example and offers up fantastic purity, loads of black and blue fruits, crushed flowers and even background meatiness to go with a seamless, voluptuous, yet also focused mouthfeel. It's impressive and should represent a smoking value. Drink 2014-2020."

A blend of a couple vineyards of Pinot Noir. Initially offered first. Nice nose, with plum and blackberry fruit. Well balanced. Good complexity. A solid 92 in my notes. CB 92+

14.3%. This one is a bit on the jammy side for me. Has the acid structure to support it, but finishes on a sweet raspberry note that becomes tiring after a glass.

Amber didn't like it, but I did. In fairness, this was a third bottle pinot that followed two big bottles before it. Light even for a pinot.

Cherry and blackberry with a chewy middle and excellent acid finish. Nose is classic SLH. Solid from start to finish.

Balanced with more fruit than acidity but very earthy on the back end with great lingering flavor.
