Loring Wine Company Rosella's Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012

$49.99

Very limited new release from Brian Loring, a small producer who has the midas touch with Pinot Noir in California.  He sources from the best vineyards in the state and hand crafts some of the finest Pinot Noirs we've tasted.  Extremely limited.92 Points Robert Parker:  "Showing the vineyard freshness and purity, the 2012 Pinot Noir Rosella’s Vineyard is a lively, pure and elegant effort that shows subtle kirsch, flowers and hints of earth as well as a medium-bodied, tight profile that should flesh out nicely once bottled. It should be approachable on release but have 4-6 years of evolution. Drink 2014-2020.  ...This was an impressive (and large) lineup of wines. Made by the brother/sister pair, Brian and Kimberly Loring, with Rachel Silkowski functioning as assistant winemaker, these efforts never lack for fruit or texture and, for the most part, reward immediate gratification. Having said that, I think these 2011s will offer a relatively broad drink window. The 2012s are more rich and voluptuous, with the purity of fruit and seamlessness of the vintage."

A jammy style of pinot. There's almost a Zin-like character to it.

Heavily fruit forward. True to the Loring style.

Super ripe raspberry, strawberry preserves, a touch of white pepper and juniper. Fruit bomb, ridiculously hot. Don't really get the hype...

The people pleaser. Loring drinks well young and this bottle was no different. Big modern style. No nuance but no pretense either. Nice price on wine list @the barrel room. $60.

Like this vineyard a lot. Good year. Good with food. But prefer the Roar expression of the same vineyard.
