Locations Wine E 4 Red Blend NV

$19.99

Introducing Orin Swift's delicious new red from Spain:  Locations "E"! The E-4 marks the fourth release of Orin Swift's Spanish Red Wine made from the finest varietals and locations throughout Spain.  Grenache from Priorat and Rioja, Tempranillo from Rioja and Carignan from Ribero del Duero.  They come together to form yet another delicious red blend from this cult producer of The Prisoner red. Try this great new release while it's still available! The wine has a vibrant ruby color with a scarletband on the rim.  The aromas take a minute to awaken, then take off into a blend of ripe boysenberry, stone fruit, warm spice, and a hint of oak.  A rich entry leads to a robust and savory mid palette that is intense and concentrated with a persistent finish of ripe, soft tannins. Extremely well-balanced, the wine is ready to open and drink now. Sante!

Feels most similar to a friendly oaked Tempranillo, but being a blend, this offers notably deeper spice and fruit. Rhubarb and golden raisin are good descriptors for the dank fruitiness of the nose. On the palate it's all about balance: lively acid that doesn't contradict the richness, well-present tannins that don't overstay their welcome, and sweet, vegetal, red and black fruit facets that all coexist to mutual benefit. These location wines aren't in my normal $10-13 price range, but this one delivers an experience not out of keeping with its ~$20 price tag.
