Screaming Eagle winemaker's new red! A great new Napa Red from former Screaming Eagle Winemaker Andy Erickson and vineyard manager Anne Favia, Napa's newest superstar winemaking team. A fantastic value for such pedigree and quality under $50. Limited. 94 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "Based on Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah brought up in 25% new French oak, the 2017 California Red Wine sports a deep ruby/purple color as well as a rich, powerful, opulent style that certainly puts a smile on your face. Notes of currants, chocolate, spice box, and earthy, herbal notes all emerge from this sexy, seamless effort that has full-bodied richness, ripe tannins, and outstanding finish. It’s a smoking value to enjoy over the coming 7-8 years." San Franisco Chronicle: " New Cult Wineries to Watch: Leviathan": "If Andy Erickson is normally low key, he's almost mum about this blend...but for his devotees, it's a chance to access the Screaming Eagle winemaker's talents for under $50 - far less than most of his projects, which also include Hartwell and Arietta...features the joint talents of his wife, Annie Favia, one of Napa Valley top viticulturists."

The 2018 Red Wine is a plump, juicy Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. The 2018 is not quite as flamboyant as some other recent editions, but it packs plenty of punch. A rush of dark red/purplish fruit, crushed rocks, menthol, rose petal and spice build into the intense, layered finish. The 2018 can be enjoyed upon release, but it is at its best with an hour or two of aeration. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, January 2021)

First sniff….Napa wine cellar. Definitely decant, but afterwards smooth, silky, fruit forward and delish., with no tannins on the front or back end. All must haves as I try to get myself out the dog house with my queen. Blessed to be forgiven…the liquid heaven helps distract the frustration

Finally shook a weeklong cold and wanted a big red with little restraint. This did the trick.

The wine we had was the Red Blend. Nice chocolate notes and rich, jammy dark fruit. Medium acidity and nice finish. Similar to Prisoner but not as bold.

A great wine for a chilly evening. Makes me think of a library filled with leather bound books.
