Screaming Eagle winemaker's new red! A great new Napa Red from former Screaming Eagle Winemaker Andy Erickson and vineyard manager Anne Favia, Napa's newest superstar winemaking team. A fantastic value for such pedigree and quality under $50. Limited. 94 Points Brix26: "A dark and devastatingly good red blend that is yet another demonstration of Erickson's impressive skill. You may not be able to resist opening a bottle as soon as it arrives. Expressive aromas of coffee bean, smoke, dusty rose and fresh baked black cherry pie jump from the glass. Soft tannins crescendo to intense flavors of dark chocolate, raspberries and cherries. It finishes long with dark fruit character and mouthwatering acidity. While this wine may age gracefully for years to come it is hard to resist now. 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah, 13% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot." San Franisco Chronicle: " New Cult Wineries to Watch: Leviathan": "If Andy Erickson is normally low key, he's almost mum about this blend...but for his devotees, it's a chance to access the Screaming Eagle winemaker's talents for under $50 - far less than most of his projects, which also include Hartwell and Arietta...features the joint talents of his wife, Annie Favia, one of Napa Valley top viticulturists."

We are big fans of this wine. This is their best vintage that we’ve tasted. Excellent value at $32. Big, bold, textured and layered. Presents as a contemporary Bdx blend - which it is.

Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim. Fruity nose with black currants, blackberries, plums, oak, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco, chocolates, coffee, spices, earth and black pepper. Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs. Dry and fruity on the palate with plums, black currants, coffee, oak, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, earth, mocha, caramel and peppercorn. Medium finish with soft tannins and cherries. This red blend from California is drinking nicely now, although still young. Spicy and fruit forward. Tasty and easy drinking. Made by the former winemaker for Screaming Eagle. Robert Parker 94 points. Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Aged in French oak barrels. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses. 14.8% alcohol by volume. 90 points. $40.

With all the fanfare surrounding this wine I was excited to taste the 2016. It landed awkward on the palate and didn’t assemble into anything harmonious even with plenty of time. Very little structure; muddled fruit; nice chocolate notes; it all finished instantly. Not recommended.

My wife does not like Cab. When she asked if it was Cab, I said no. She said, are you sure. I said it is a Cab blend. She said, she likes it. I love Cab, she doesn’t. So when I can find a Cab or wine with Cab that she likes, I will buy more. For the price point it is spectacular. Dark, smoky, and oaky.
