Landmark Vineyards Damaris Reserve Chardonnay 2016

$34.99

Rare reserve Chardonnay from the makers of the famous Overlook Chardonnay. Limited. The Landmark Damaris Reserve displays light gold hues with aromas of white pear, lime zest, crystallized ginger, chalk, and hints of vanilla, honey, and cookie dough. This medium bodied Chardonnay is dry and balanced with moderate acidity that increases on the palate. Complex flavors of poached white pear, white nectarine, lime zest, crystallized ginger, and vanilla linger on the finish with a pleasant minerality. The Damaris Reserve Chardonnay is comprised of 53% Lorenzo Vineyard and 47% Rodgers Creek Vineyard fruit. Rodgers Creek Vineyard is located in the Petaluma Gap, which sits atop the southern ridge of the Sonoma Mountain range overlooking Los Carneros. The Petaluma Gap is characterized as a very cool, windy, fog influenced area. The Lorenzo Vineyard is located in the Russian River Valley and is 100% Wente clone. The soil has a high percentage of clay, which helps give this wine an element of minerality in the flavor profile. Each lot was lightly whole cluster pressed, allowed to settle overnight, and placed into French oak barrels the next morning. Spontaneous yeast fermentation ensued, and the wines underwent malolactic fermentation during the spring of the following year. Aged sur-lie, battonage was performed until late spring to round out the texture and build mouthfeel of the wine. This chardonnay was bottled unfiltered after 15 months of barrel aging. Nestled at the base of the Mayacama Mountains in the quaint town of Kenwood, Landmark is a winery with a rich history in farming and agriculture. The winery was founded in 1974 by Damaris Deere Ford, great-great granddaughter of John Deere. Today, the winery continues to express its agricultural legacy through Landmark’s everyday vineyard practices.

Lemon, brioche, cinnamon, stainless, nice acid. I dig it. Easy to drink.

Honeysuckle and graham cracker aromas with white peach and pear. Clean, cut fruit flavors with savory characters make this a delicious drinker on its own. More graham cracker and ripe orchard fruits on the medium finish.
