100 points - limited               Lail's J. Daniel Cuvee Reserve Cabernet is one of Napa Valley's highest-rated Cabs of the 2017 vintage - Limited. Only 470 cases produced. 100 Points Robert Parker: "The 2019 J. Daniel Cuvée Cabernet Sauvignon is a barrel sample with a deep garnet-purple color. It needs a little coaxing to unlock pronounced blackcurrant preserves, Black Forest cake and stewed plums scents with hints of star anise, clove oil, unsmoked cigars and tilled soil with a waft of roses. Full-bodied, the palate explodes with vibrant black fruits, framed by wonderfully plush tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and fragrant. Beautiful!" 99 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon J. Daniel Cuvee is just about pure perfection and another example of Napa Valley magic. All Cabernet Sauvignon brought up in 80% new French oak, it offers an incredible bouquet of pure cassis and blackberry fruits as well as textbook Pauillac-like notes of graphite, tobacco, toasted spices, and chalky minerality. Rich, full-bodied, and powerful, it’s one of those wines that somehow marries incredible intensity and richness with no sensation of weight or heaviness, perfect balance, and a layered, multi-dimensional style that’s hard to describe. It shows more tannins and chocolaty oak with air and needs to be forgotten for 4-6 years, and it will be a 40+-year wine. It’s heavenly juice." Connoisseur's Guide: "...Nothing less than a tour de force, the Lail 2018 J. Daniel Cuvée is a Cabernet of soaring beauty and fruity depth that combines amazing richness with an altogether remarkable degree of real sophistication. It offers layer upon layer of blackcurrant fruit, creamy oak, black olives and loam, and, although it is a wine of considerable concentration and muscle, it is also uncannily well-polished for a wine that is as young and muscular as it is. We do not use the term 'classic' lightly, but classic it is, and, while we have yet to see a great many of the top Cabernet Sauvignons from what is a heralded vintage, it sets a high standard that will be hard to beat. It is that good!" ...Robin Lail is one of the true icons of Napa Valley. Her great grand-uncle Gustave Niebaum was one of the pioneers for Napa Valley viticulture as well as the founder of Inglenook Vineyards. Her family’s fascinating history dates back to 1879, and Robin can truly boast of having worked with the best professionals and superstars of Napa Valley, from Robert Mondavi and Bill Harlan to Christian Moueix at Dominus. However, she’s on her own now with Lail Vineyards and has produced a bevy of extraordinary wines with the help of her wine consultant Philippe Melka. There are two pricing tiers, with the Blueprint wines the less expensive wines aimed at consumers and the restaurant trade, and the more limited production Georgia Sauvignon Blanc and J. Daniel cuvées of Cabernet Sauvignon for connoisseurs with thick wallets."
