Kosta Browne Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2018

$74.99

Limited new Russian River Valley Chardonnay release from Kosta Browne. previous vintage 97 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "A beautiful Chardonnay from the Russian River Valley brought up in 34% new French oak, the Chardonnay One Sixteen sports a medium gold color as well as a rich, powerful bouquet of caramelized citrus, white currants, toasted hazelnuts, and brioche. Deep, rich, medium to full-bodied, and beautifully textured, it has flawless balance, bright acidity, and is a profound Chardonnay that will stand beside the finest white Burgundies." With idyllic weather from start to finish, 2018 was one of the finest growing seasons of the past decade. Each wine within the Appellation Series embodies the unique qualities we cherish from the regions we work with. The marine influence that follows the Russian River inland from the Pacific coast is a powerful attribute of this region. The fog helps keep nights cool and offers the vines a well-deserved break from daytime temperatures. The collection of famous Chardonnay vineyards that we work with for this wine are located in the coolest parts of the Russian River Valley. Here, fruit can mature gracefully on the vine, which we find offers us more intensely focused flavors.

Very nice Sonoma Pinot; well reviewed and well regarded. For the price, though, I was expecting more. In fact, I am ever so slightly disappointed, given the hype. Not as complex and beguiling as Marcassin. Other Pinots all over California compare favorably, at half the price. I bought two bottles, so let’s see if this improves with a bit more age. Had the 2018 vintage with Christmas duck, duck, goose (Cantonese roast duck and Peking Duck from Hop Woo and house roasted goose—mmmm!).

In my opinion one of the best RRV from them. Reminds me of 04. Packed with black cherries, dr. Pepper like spice, touch of oak. Well balanced with no holes, long finish . Very approachable at this young age. Excellent

Good Pinot Noir but not worth its high price. Simple Pinot Noir that is well made but not complex.

California Pinot Noir is always a bit thin compared to those from Oregon.

Young but had to try. Good but certainly would be better with time.

Ruby coloration. Some transparency when held to light. On the nose, cranberry, raspberry and florals. On the palate, medium body, nice lush mouthfeel, plum, cranberry, cherry tobacco and vanilla in the finish, which is lengthy. A wine with some depth for sure.
