Very Limited Kistler Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. Kistler Pinot Noirs are produced from field selections originally brought in from Burgundy. Those selections have been propagated in Kistler's vineyards, selected for specific qualities and refined into proprietary materials over the last twenty years. Yields are seldom above 2 tons per acre which is less than most Grand Cru Burgundy. Our goal in crafting our Pinot Noirs is to capture the elusive Pinot character expressed in each of our exceptional coastal sites. We strive to produce elegant, harmonious wines which are impressive for their purity, balance, and lingering perfume. From these sites there is a progression of color and length of character as we move towards the coast.

Medium ruby; medium plus intensity aromas of red cherry, strawberry, subtle red plum, underbrush, subtle eucalyptus, earth and mushrooms as it opens up further; dry, medium plus acid, low tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, medium plus intensity flavors consistent with aromas; lovely and complex, very elegant, develops with time

Didn’t know Kistler was in the Pinot business until this showed up from WB…and while a very good one, not up to Kistler’s level in Chardonnay…very nicely fruit forward, but a little too sparkly at the front and a little too wooden at the back. Solid but not exceptional….falls short of Loring & Testarrossa

2018 vintage. A bit muted and lighter than previous Kistler Pinots I’ve had going back three decades. Decanted and tasted 15 mins-1.5 hours later. Light-medium body. Not showing much currently. Could be in a dumb phase as there were no obvious signs of abuse or TCA. 2.2.24.
