Limited new Kistler Chardonnay release - available nowprevious vintage 95 Points Robert Parker: "Kistler’s Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard emerges from the glass with rich, baritone inflections in its fruity. Hazelnuts, pastry, lemon oil and flowers meld together in a seamless, beguiling Chardonnay of the very highest level. In 2011, the Hudson is loaded with personality. It is also one of the more overt wines in the range, but at the same time that trait is a bit subdued by the personality of the year. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021...It is always a pleasure to visit with Steve Kistler and his partner Mark Bixler. The 2011s and 2010s are excellent across the board, although I currently have a preference for the 2011s. Vintage 2011 is shaping up beautifully, for both the Chardonnays and Pinots."

Multiply layers of flavors and smells. Highly complex wine. Starts with whiffs of wet concrete and toasty notes. Opens up after some time to creamed pear, citrus and touch of oak. The finish integrates all the flavors/smells to create a long persistent finish. Wonderful wine!

Awesome second Kistler of the day. Big toasted oak with loads of creamy buttery fruits. Totally different from our 1st chard of Kistler. Given by Dr Bob. Delicious in every way. CB 95+

Over the hill? I find many Hudson Chardonnays don’t have the staying power as other vineyards do. Sure are good in their youth though.
