Since 1976, Kenwood Vineyards has produced wines from Jack London's historic vineyard in Glen Ellen, Sonoma. This unique red lava soil vineyard, located on the eastern slope of Sonoma Mountain, was first planted in the late 1800s. It has always produced red wines distinct in depth and varietal character. The Kenwood 2006 Jack London Cabernet Sauvignon fruit was harvested in late September and the resulting wine is wonderfully complex with powerful berry, spice and earth flavors. Delicious now, this Cabernet will continue to develop and improve for at least a decade. 96% Cabernet Sauvignon 4% Merlot 100% Harvested from the historic Jack London Vineyard located on the west side of Sonoma Valley on Sonoma Mountain.

What a difference a year makes, the ‘11 I tried was mediocre, the ‘12 I tasted was much better. Dark Ruby with aromas of dark fruit, herb and floral notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry and cherry with hints of eucalyptus, leather and vanilla. Fine firm tannins, a bit chewy, medium+ finish ending with rich fruit and mineral notes.

A tad bit too tart for my taste. Lots of currant & notes of tobacco. Texture reminds more of a Pinot Noir.
