Kendall-Jackson Grand Reserve Santa Barbara County Chardonnay 2013

$22

The rare Reserve version of Kendall-Jackson's bestselling Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay. Limited. Handcrafted from the top 5% of all the Kendall-Jackson lots, a delicious blend of Monterey and Santa Barbara fruit.  Sur lie aged with lees stirred twice monthly to integrate fruit and oak and promote a creamy mouthfeel. 90 Points Robert Parker: "The real superstar, if you want to spend a few more dollars, is the 2013 Chardonnay Grand Reserve, which is a blend of 54% Monterey estate fruit with 46% Santa Barbara estate fruit. This is aged in 31% new French oak and a touch of American wood as well, for nine months prior to bottling. The wine shows honeysuckle, brioche, pineapple, mango, and orange notes in a boisterous, exuberant, richly fruity, but pure, medium-bodied style with the oak kicked to the background."

Quite enjoyable. Buttery with oak and lime. Small hints. Smooth and biscuity. I like it.

This is our favorite wine, light and crisp. It's the wine by which we judge all others.

Quite a good Chardonnay. Rich, without being overbearing with butter. Fruity but not too sweet; floral and a little acidic. Drank well with roasted chicken. Would buy again - got for about $14 on sale.

Really enjoyed this. Perfect level of sweetness for my taste. Oak taste def there but not overpowering. Notes of pear for me. Surprised by the lackluster reviews, but my impression might be affected bc I had MO sweet vignoles right before this.
