Justin Vineyards & Winery Isosceles Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2011

$64.99

The Isosceles Cabernet blend is one of Paso Robles most sought-after wines!  Get the limited new release now. The Justin 2011 Isosceles is bright with a deep ruby core, lighter with a bit of garnet toward the rim. Rich and aromatic with dark fruit of black cherry, cassis, exotic licorice, cinnamon, and subtle vanilla spice with sweet notes of tobacco, a little cocoa and subtle toasted cedar in the background. Full bodied with black cherry and classic black currant fruit, complex brown spice of star anise, licorice with cocoa and herbal notes of sweet tobacco and a hint of eucalyptus. The rest is classic Bordeaux cabernet sauvignon - fruit, complex spice, and mineral flavors balanced with guiding structural elements on a long, memorable finish. Drink on release or wait a dozen years, this one will be ready for you. Blend: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 7% Merlot ISOSCELES is the embodiment of our dream to produce a Paso Robles wine in the style of the classic chateaux of the Médoc area of Bordeaux. Each vintage of ISOSCELES drinks beautifully upon release, revealing its Paso roots, and after years in the cellar it shows the quality, complexity, and age-worthiness of the wines after which it is styled. Elegantly understated, but with impressive complexity on further examination, the new packaging for this twenty fifth vintage of ISOSCELES reflects the character of this iconic wine and continues its proud heritage.

Exceptional! This was a half bottle vintage 2011 and I think it was the perfect age. Half bottles age quicker, so I would give a normal sized bottle about 10 years from vintage. Busting with wonderful fruit and mellow oak. Happy new year!

Brett and barnyard aromas punch you in the nose upon first whiff, grape juice underbelly becomes apparent with a second whiff. Increased barrel aging and the inclusion of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon imparts a touch more complexity, acidity, and astringency than its baby brother Cabernet Franc/Merlot blend "Justification".

Ripe black Fruit, full body and some green bell pepper jam, a bit of VA in the back, old school Cali Cab with fresh acidity, still young, 2011.

Very special 2011 half bottle opened mid 2019. You can tell it continued to age in the bottle with the fruit becoming more mellow, the wine taking on a more orange-red hue and a bit leathery to the nose and taste. I ended up going back and emptying the shelf at the local grocery store. Half bottles are so much easier to open and finish.

This wine’s reputation is basically justified. But I am still peeved that only two of the four triangles in the logo are in fact isosceles.
