New release of one of the famous Jordan Alexander Valley Cabernets! The continued addition of fruit from estate hillside vineyards and the blending of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot with the Cabernet Sauvignon are responsible for the well integrated flavors, deep color and full mouth feel of the Jordan 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley. The bouquet is highlighted with aromas of cassis, black cherry and dark chocolate, with undertones of sweet tobacco and cedar. The Jordan Cabernet Alexander Valley is very rich in texture with opulent flavors of ripe blackberry, cherry and cassis. This Cabernet has a lingering finish of subtle earth, cigar tobacco, cedar, and a well integrated and restrained framework of oak.

If only more CA cabernets showed this sort of polished elegance and restraint. Youthful but eminently accessible. Savory, earthy notes dominate the red and black fruit, braced by subtle acids, a long clean finish, and a well integrated 13.8% abv. Drink now but good for five more years in the cellar, minimum. Dried currants and oak hit you on the nose. Tannins are pretty aggressive for a 2011 and a touch of heat.

Dark ruby red with a purplish hue. Good dark fruits on the nose with some forest floor and truffles. Light bell peppers in the finish. Moderate tannins (5.5/10) and medium bodied. Lots of soft dark fruits and damp leaves. Medium plus finish. Great restaurant wine and solid Sonoma Cabernet. Drink till 2022.

Not the finest vintage, but another example of the well-balanced, smooth-textured Jordan style.
