Jericho Canyon Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

$80

A fantastic small-production Napa Valley Cabernet. One of our favorite 2007 Cabernets.93 Points Robert Parker: "The real deal. Super-ripe but with impressive underlying acidity and structure, the wine has notes of charcoal, roasted herbs, tapenade, black currant, licorice, and camphor. It is deep, full-bodied, rich, with good acidity and sweet tannin. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. This source for Cabernet Sauvignon was made famous by well-known wine consultant and winemaker David Ramey when he was sourcing fruit from this site. They now estate-bottle their own wines, and this is a cuvee of around 400 cases made from 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc." The Jericho Canyon Vineyard 2007 Proprietary Red two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and one-third Merlot, and a tiny dollop of Cabernet Franc), comes from a vineyard northeast of Calistoga owned by Jericho Canyon Vineyards and the wine is made by famed winemaker David Ramey. Winemaker Aaron Pott puts it best:  "Jericho Canyon is poised to become one of the great estates of Napa Valley. It is a dragon slumbering in its cave atop a horde of treasure that is about to be awakened and unleashed."

A wine that could not be in a better spot right now. Decanted at opening. Plush, soft aromas of black berries and plus just a touch of spice. On the palate this wine is juicy and soft, with velvety tannins and gorgeous acidity. Flavors of black plums and raspberries fill the glass around with wonderful spice box notes and just a kiss of oak. The finish seems to last forever with lingering spice and fruit notes. A truly wonderful wine.
