There is precious little of this Rhone-style red, so if you are a lover of voluptuously fruity, rich, spicy black cherry liqueur-scented wine with pure flavors and the thickest most velvety tannins, grab some now.  Only 200 cases produced. 94 Points Brix26:  "An equal part blend of two great Central Coast vineyards, Larner and Stolpman, the Jelly Roll Syrah reveals a dense plum/purple color, a big, rich bouquet of black fruits (plums and cherries), black olives, pepper, and bouquet garni, luscious fruit, velvety tannins, and a medium to full-bodied, plush finish. Enjoy it over the next 4-5 years...The goal of this small artisanal project of winemaker Sashi Moorman and proprietor Jim Knight is to produce consumer-friendly, but seriously made Syrahs meant to be consumed during their first 5-6 years of life." Jelly Roll Wines owner and winemaker Jim Knight got into the wine business when Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia died and he could no longer follow the band. Knight learned winemaking while working in the business and focuses on his love of Syrah. Jelly Roll's wines quickly gained recognition upon their release in 2001 and found their way to the lists of some of the finest Michelin-starred restaurants in California.
