Honig makes one of Napa Valley's Classic Cabernets! 92 Points Robert Parker: "The Honig 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is blended of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 4% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec. Deep purple-black colored, it delivers great intensity of crushed blackberries, warm plums and black currant cordial scents with wafts of underbrush, cinnamon toast and charcoal. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and grainy with a good core of fruit and a savory finish." Wine Spectator: "The Honig 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon offers a nice display of crushed plum and loganberry fruit along with singed mesquite and licorice root hints. A touch brambly and toothy through the finish, but good energy overall keeps this going." The Honig family purchased the Rutherford Vineyard in 1964, and began producing wine in 1980. In 1984, at the age of 22, Michael Honig took over management of the vineyard and winery. With the help of a handful of family members and a staff of dedicated employees, what began as a small “garage” winery has today become a successful family enterprise, with everyone working collaboratively to run an inspiring and socially responsible business. At Honig they believe it is their responsibility to preserve resources and sustain the environment. Their family and employees have been committed to environmentally sound practices for decades. Their Napa Green and California Sustainable Winegrowing Association certifications are but one component of an overall sustainable culture encompassing their vineyard, winery and business.

We already loved the 2014 vintage, and the 2017 surprisingly more than held up, with similar hints of oak, fruit, and vanilla but a creamier mouthfeel. Paired beautifully with lamb.

Great! A little young and spicier on the finished but very enjoyable.

First time having this since our wedding at which it was the featured wine. Generous fruit with a long vanilla finish.

Fantastic wine, especially with a dry aged ribeye. Ribeye is a strange word. Why would anyone combine a rib and an eye. But the wine is good.
