Sourced by the likes of Kistler, Williams Selyem, Flowers and Littorai-among other top California Pinot producers - the growers of the famed Hirsch Vineyard on Sonoma's Coast have been making their own Pinot Noir since 2002. Very limited.Talk about aromatics! The Hirsch Vineyards 2010 Estate Pinot Noir offers up cranberries, rich, ripe cherries, orange peel with a hint of gunflint provide a nose so intoxicating you are captured by tendrils of aroma. With air, the nose broadens to even deeper autumnal notes. Those who can free themselves from this spell are rewarded with an intense core of bing cherries and ripe plum with a firm acidic backbone. This is a wine built for the long haul. This big, broad, ripe but complex wine is a real rarity and a must for the complete Pinot collector. Only 849 cases produced

This older bottle is showing so beautifully! Aging totally gracefully, still with life left ahead. Delicate, and flavors still leading with fruit.

Drinking beautifully right now. Still great acidity, rich fruit with secondary and tertiary flavors starting to emerge.

It's a shame to open this baby wine now, But what the heck, it's open. Always one of my favorite California bottlings of Pinot, and I generally don't like California Pinot, I love the acidity and the restraint on this one. Cherry, pomegranate, spice.

Yes, I have Hirsch San Andreas Fault Pinot in the glass, which was part of a 3 year blind tasting event for Coravin. The objective was to see if you could actually guess how many of the 4 samples were Coravin accessed 3 years ago, and how many were freshly poured that evening. Could not tell what do ever. Gotta love Coravin - owner Greg Lambrecht in the photo - the guy is awesome, and insanely knowledgeable about wine. About Hirsch - absolutely gorgeous, dried herbs, anise, cranberry, raspberry, allspice, and balanced acidity. 2010 had so much youth in it that it still needs several more years in my opinion. Not classic to the full level of fruit forward Cali can deliver - even a little tightly wound. What a treat!

Nice Pinot , bit more new oak then expected, would cellar longer to integrate more.
