Rare release of an Napa Valley classic. Limited. 94 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "A rich, dark wine, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Trailside Vineyard possesses superb depth and texture while maintaining a classic sense of structure. Sweet dark cherry, plum, cedar, tobacco, licorice and mint all take shape as this succulent, resonant wine shows off its expressive personality. Drink this deep, pliant Cabernet Sauvignon over the next two decades. The combination of ripeness from the late season hear and structure is hugely appealing." In the early 1980s, the Heitz Family acquired a marvelous Rutherford vineyard bordered on one side by the Silverado Trail and nudged on the other by the Conn Creek. In 1989, we introduced our Trailside Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon--an opulent wine that consistently expresses its lineage in bold, luscious statements. Our Trailside Vineyard produces Cabernet grapes that are incredibly intense and flavorful. We try to enhance that natural bravado during our extended aging process by using new French oak barrels

Little tight even after resting. Cigar box and eucalyptus on the nose and dark fruit, tobacco were highlights on the palate.

Amazingly amazing, though I know this may seem redundantly redundant, Heitzs will always hold a special place in my heart.

Very smooth and balanced. A little "green" on the finish.

The 2010 started fairly closed, and could use some cellar years. Our cork was slightly bled through, so our bottle may not be representative. Still delicious with some introduced air, and the previous year we had was fantastic. No notes due to oxidation.
