Head High Wines Sonoma County Pinot Noir 2014

$24.99

New Pinot by Kistler owners                 A fantastic new Pinot Noir discovery under $30. A project from wine entrepreneur Bill Price, owner of  Kistler, Kosta Browne and Three Sticks winery.  This Pinot is a blend from several vineyards throughout the Sonoma Coast, including Durell Vineyard, Wildcat Vineyard, and Sangiacomo. Rich and gutsy, this is a black-fruited wonder that still maintains nice balance and acidity. Wine Enthusiast:  "Offering value and full-bodied flavor, this wine sources grapes from Price Family, Durell and Wildcat Canyon, among others. It finds a way to be earthy and herbal while also fruity. A leathery texture and medium acidity combine for likable complexity, the wine ultimately retaining its savory bones." Even better, for every two bottles sold, one dollar is donated to either the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation or Sustainable Surf.

I seem to remember that this (according to the menu) was owned by Kistler. It was nice actually, obviously not Kistler, but for the price was a keeper.

Drinking the 2014 in 2018. Deep plum color with rich tones. Thick long lasting legs. Rich bouquet with ripe berry, cherry and an earthy undertone. BIG flavor, rich with tart cherry, deep ripe blackberry and an earthy finish. Tons of flavor for a Pinot. Great value!
