Hartford Court Land's Edge Vineyard Pinot Noir 2011

$45

Another fantastic Pinot Noir from Hartford Court - try it while it's still available. Winemaker's Notes: @The nose leads with black cherry and black raspberry, balanced with aromas of crushed quartz and dried rose petal. The layered flavors of dark berries, licorice and dried flowers lead to a mid-palate with elegant and polished texture. The wine ends with a lingering mocha and mineral finish.@ 93 Points Robert Parker:  @Hartford Court’s 2010 Pinot Noir Land’s Edge Vineyards brings together fruit from Far Coast and Seascape, a blend that works very nicely. Far Coast provides the body and structure, while Sea Scape contributes aromatic delineation and energy. There is an element of lift and sheer nuance in the Land’s Edge that is wonderful. Here, too, I find superb precision in the flavors. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020.  Proprietor Don Hartford and winemaker Jeff Stewart have done a fabulous job with these new releases. It is rare for a winery to excel with so many different wines across three varieties and a bevy of sites. Each of these wines is unique and distinctive, not to mention that virtually all of the wines are immensely pleasing as well. This year, I was especially taken with the 2011 Zinfandels, wines that all have tremendous energy and vibrancy. At times, the Hartford Zinfandels can be quite Pinot-like in style.

I really like this Sonoma PN. With 6 yrs under its belt it is just singing and I feel like will keep getting better for a few more years. Nicely done Hartford!

The nose is sweet cherries and strawberries. But not an intimidating way. More a "come hither." This wine is in perfect balance right now. Tannins, fruit and heat working in harmony for a grand experience. The finish is long and smooth. This is a great Sonoma PN.

Clean taste but not bold enough. Decent table red.
