Hamilton Russell Vineyards Hemel-En-Aarde Valley Pinot Noir 2014

$44.99

Stellar new release from South Africa's finest Pinot Noir producer! Limited. previous vintage 92 Points Robert Parker:  "The Pinot Noir was a season with a long hang time with an above-average size of crop – a season with no ups and downs," Hannes Storm explained. It has a perfumed, floral bouquet with wilted rose petals infusing the red cherries, bergamot and fresh strawberry scents. The palate is clean and pixelated on the entry, adorned with a satin-like texture, extremely well-judged acidity and superb poise on the finish. This has gained a little weight over the next 12 months and while I do not think it has the substance for serious long-term aging, it is absolute charmer at this stage."

14’Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir. It's a silky, seductive wine, aromatic & balanced. Pronounced cherry & raspberry fruits, backed by barrel spices. Streaks of cola & fruit cake ride out the back of the palate as well. Solid tanning. It certainly lingers around for a minute. Drinking over the next 4/5 years. Want to thank @Greg Ballington for this delicious gift!

One of the great wines from South Africa. From the Meritage Store in Encinitas. Smokey and spicy lots of acid. Too young needs 4 more years. Underripe plums and touch of cedar. I am surprised that there are so few comments on this site this is a classic.

Still a baby. Took a little time to open up, but when it did I was very impressed. Want to revisit in 5-8 years.
