Kathryn and Craig Hall are making some of Napa Valley's best Cabernets in their state-of-the-art winery amid the legendary Sacrashe Vineyard in the hills of Rutherford. Get the new vintage before it sells out. 93 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "Made from 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Merlot, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon offers a deep purple/ruby color to go with terrific notes of blackcurrants, cedar, scorched earth and hints of gravelly minerality. It's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and structured, and at 55 bucks, you get one serious, age-worthy Napa Cabernet....One of the eye-opening tastings while working on this report was the lineup from Kathryn Hall’s estate located in St. Helena. There’s a wealth of wines here, yet they all have deep, concentrated, pure profiles as well as singular characters. You could pretty much randomly select from this lineup and be guaranteed to have a brilliant wine. Hats off to winemaker Steve Leveque." 93 Points Points Robert Parker: "TDeep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon offers an earthy/savory nose with notes of fertile loam, tree bark and smoked meat over a cassis and black cherry core with touches of roses and menthol. The full-bodied palate delivers great expression and plenty of character, supported by chewy tannins and finishing on a savory note...Hall has quickly become one of the great superstars in the Napa Valley firmament." ...This is a thrilling set of wines from Hall. The estate favors a rich, extroverted style, yet all of these wines have distinct personalities and tons of sheer character. Meticulous viticulture followed by native yeast fermentations, slow, natural malos and minimal rackings are at the heart of the approach at Hall. The wines are aged in French oak (mostly Taransaud, 40-90% new) and are bottled with no fining or filtration. Readers who appreciate the more opulent side of Napa Valley will find much to admire here. Simply put, I was blown away by what I tasted."

A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13%, aged for 23 months in French oak, is a deep Ruby with aromas of dark ripe fruit with sweet herbs, of floral and complex spices. The palate shows ripe blackberry and currants, cinnamon spice, sweet oak and cacao. Well integrated with fine soft tannins, the wine is complex yet enjoyable now and will age well for a number of years. Long ending with savory oak. Nice!
