Kathryn and Craig Hall are making some of Napa Valley's best Cabernets in their state-of-the-art winery amid the legendary Sacrashe Vineyard in the hills of Rutherford. Get the new vintage before it sells out.94 Points Brix26: "With its deep purple hue, the Hall 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon drives complex aromas of jammy blackberry puree, rich cassis, Asian Five-Spice and dark chocolate from the glass. The fleshy texture is both dense and opulent, the perfect platform for brawny black and briar fruit flavors that persist through the velvety, enduring finish. This wine will continue to gain complexity and grace for 10+ years." 92+ Points Points Robert Parker: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa, which is 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 6% Merlot, and 3% Syrah, shows a dense ruby/purple color, super concentration, chocolate, a touch of oak and a medium to full-bodied impressively concentrated style. It’s approachable now, but perhaps will be better in 4-5 years and last 20. Hall has quickly become one of the great superstars in the Napa Valley firmament." ...This is a thrilling set of wines from Hall. The estate favors a rich, extroverted style, yet all of these wines have distinct personalities and tons of sheer character. Meticulous viticulture followed by native yeast fermentations, slow, natural malos and minimal rackings are at the heart of the approach at Hall. The wines are aged in French oak (mostly Taransaud, 40-90% new) and are bottled with no fining or filtration. Readers who appreciate the more opulent side of Napa Valley will find much to admire here. Simply put, I was blown away by what I tasted.

Just opened my last ‘13. Blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 6% Merlot and 3% Syrah, aged for 23 months in French oak (50% new), deep Ruby color with aromas of dark ripe fruit with hints of floral and sweet baking spices. On the palate flavors of ripe dark berry fruit with cinnamon, sweet oak, tobacco and cacao. Well integrated fine structured tight tannins, complex and enjoyable now and should benefit from additional bottle age. Long finish ending with fruit, spice and oak.

PnP: Really tight. Aggressive tannins. Muted fruit. Medium length. After an hour in the glass it opened up a bit to reveal a medium palate of raspberry and spice. Not a bad wine and for $35 it was a good deal assuming my other bottles mature.

I've never been head over heels with the wines here but they are always okay. To be fair, haven't done an exhaustive tasting of their wines.
