One of the top Napa Cabernets of the vintage, the Groth 2012 Reserve Cab is a classic. Delicious now but a great cellar candidate as well. Limited. The 2012 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon shows the intrinsic black stone fruit nuances and the soft tannin structure that define the Oakville, Napa Valley-floor Cabernet. The 2012 harvest may actually go down as one of the most intriguing, most difficult and the best vintages of the early 21st century. The reds are stunning – amazing colors in wines that are soft, supple and full bodied. Amazing results from an amazing year! 95 Points James Suckling: "This is very classy with mineral, black currant and spice character. Shows chili and Thai basil too. Full body, firm tannins and a bright and persistent finish. Extremely long and elegant. Best ever from here in years?" James Suckling July 28th, 2015.

Well balanced and inviting. Black fruits, blackberry, leather, smoke, well integrated tannins, everything you love in a Napa cabernet. This wine is great, not exceptional. Long finish that invites you back for more. My impression is mid term aging as opposed to long term.

Big and juicy, as expected. A bit hot. Not my style but the table liked it.

Dark and inky. The wine is sweet and at the same time earthy. That may be the heat. The oak is nicely integrated and not overwhelming. Cali cabs are not my go to, but this one is very nice. Much more subtle than I expected.

2012. Birfday-eve called for an ode to personal growth/groth. The first bottle opened was the 2011 Groth cab, and it sadly went down the drain. The 2012 was beautiful- perfect tannins, glass and mouth coating, not a bad way to say goodbye to 42.
