Grgich Hills Estate Yountville Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

$149.95

Rare Yountville Reserve Cabernet release from Napa Valley's Grgich Cellars from a vineyard next door to Dominus! Limited. 94 Points James Suckling: "A firm and silky red with dark berry, cherry and spice character. Full body. Integrated and beautiful fruit. Savory finish. Shows balance and tension for this warm vintage. Made from biodynamically grown grapes." 93 Points Robert Parker: "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Yountville Old Vine is a medium to deep garnet-purple color, intensely scented of red and black plums, cassis and mulberries with touches of earth, cinnamon stick, pencil shavings, yeast extract and menthol. With a great muscular core, firm, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, it finishes long and earthy." From some of the oldest Cabernet Vines in the entire Napa Valley, and usually available to Winery Club members only. This is a full-bodied and well-balanced Cabernet Sauvignon with rich flavors of red currant, elderberry and citrus flower. Mike Grgich first gained international recognition at the celebrated "Paris Tasting" of 1976 in which a panel of eminent French judges swirled, sniffed, and sipped an array of the fabled white Burgundies of France and a small sampling of upstart Chardonnays from the Napa Valley. When the results where in, the French judges were shocked: they had chosen Mike’s 1973 Montelena Chardonnay as the finest white wine in the world. Mon Dieu! The results stunned the international wine establishment and immediately earned Mike Grgich a reputation as one of the greatest winemakers in the world.ors.

Nicely balanced in flavor. A bit of fruit on the nose. Very smooth.
