It is nearly impossible to overstate the influence of Angelo Gaja on Italian wine and its lofty reputation among connoisseurs. Rare Sperss Barolo. 95 Points Wine Spectator: "With fruit from Serralunga d'Alba, the 2011 Langhe Sperss is a wine of profound beauty. This is a velvety and caressing expression with dark fruit layers followed by kirsch, cassis, leather, balsam herb and white truffle. The Gaja family decided to move their bottling date forward in order to preserve the integrity and freshness of fruit in this warm vintage. This move has helped to avoid overripe sensations. In fact, Langhe Sperss seems fresh and tonic. This bodes exceptionally well for its aging potential.

My favorite out of the lineup. Showing amazing fruit but with the toughest structure of all Gaja's wines. This has longevity. Huge presence and length on the palate already. Drank w/ Gaia Gaja at Four Seasons Hotel, Austin.

Amazing wine! One of the best I have had. Cherry, leather, super smooth. Delicious! Drinking with our neighbors.

2011 vintage. Medium ruby hue. High concentration of black cherry fruit, almond paste, floral aromas and old oak. Complex. On the palate, medium plus alcohol and acidity, good concentration and long finish. Real power and class. A lovely wine. Drink now until 2030+
