Foxen Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir 2019

$69.99

95 Points                                                 Beautiful New Pinot Noir release from Foxen - limited. 95 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "The Foxen 2019 Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard is more elegant and finesse-driven, with a beautiful perfume of framboise, wild strawberries, violets, and sappy flowers. All about red fruits and flowers, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a seamless, flawlessly balanced mouthfeel, good acidity, and just a hint of classic Santa Maria salinity on the finish. Aged 16 months in 21% new French oak, this brilliant Pinot Noir is up with the crème de la crème in the vintage." ...I continue to be blown away by this estate, which is run by Dick Dore and Bill Wathen, with Bill taking the helm of the winemaking and viticulture. Their 2013 Pinot Noirs were standouts in my Santa Barbara Tasting, and their 2013 Rhone Blends, after struggling in ’11 and ’12, look to be back on track with beautiful richness and texture. However, I found most of the 2012 Bordeaux blends to be mid-weight and geared for early consumption. Nevertheless, this terrific estate deserves more attention in the market!
