Foxen Julia's Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

$59.99

94 Points                                                 Beautiful New Pinot Noir release from Foxen - limited. 94 Points Robert Parker: "Another of the more Burgundian-styled wines in the portfolio, the 2015 Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard reveals lovely aromas of clove, rose hip, red berry fruit and spicy new oak, followed by a medium-bodied, juicy palate with a sapid core of fruit framed by velvety tannins and an intense, lingering finish." 93 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous):  "One of the many highlights in this lineup from Foxen, the 2015 Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard captures all the best qualities of the year. Black cherry, plum, lavender and spice all flesh out in this decidedly seductive, beautifully resonant Pinot Noir... ...I continue to be blown away by this estate, which is run by Dick Dore and Bill Wathen, with Bill taking the helm of the winemaking and viticulture. Their 2013 Pinot Noirs were standouts in my Santa Barbara Tasting, and their 2013 Rhone Blends, after struggling in ’11 and ’12, look to be back on track with beautiful richness and texture. However, I found most of the 2012 Bordeaux blends to be mid-weight and geared for early consumption. Nevertheless, this terrific estate deserves more attention in the market!

Better than Solomon. Less pucker effect, medium body, maybe a bit spicy. Tannins at the end.
