Beautiful New Pinot Noir release from Foxen - limited. 93+ Points Robert Parker: "Showing the darker style of Pinot Noir, the 2013 Pinot Noir Julia's Vineyard offers lots underbrush, crushed rocks, licorice and darker Pinot Noir fruit to go with a medium+-bodied, rich, structured and elegant profile on the palate. Completely destemmed and aged in 40% new French oak, it needs a year or two of cellaring and will keep through 2025... ...I continue to be blown away by this estate, which is run by Dick Dore and Bill Wathen, with Bill taking the helm of the winemaking and viticulture. Their 2013 Pinot Noirs were standouts in my Santa Barbara Tasting, and their 2013 Rhone Blends, after struggling in ’11 and ’12, look to be back on track with beautiful richness and texture. However, I found most of the 2012 Bordeaux blends to be mid-weight and geared for early consumption. Nevertheless, this terrific estate deserves more attention in the market!
