Four Vines is quickly becoming one of California's best Zinfandel producers. If you love Red Zin try this beauty from Paso Robles.93 Points Wine Spectator: “Sleek and supple, with raspberry and white pepper aromas and delicately layered huckleberry, licorice and smoky sage flavors that linger nicely on the finish. Drink now through 2014.”The Dusi and Preston Zin vineyards, with their rocky, calcareous soils, grow low yield vines, producing fruit of intense concentration. A splash of Mourvedre lends an extra kick in the mid-palate. The Biker has blackberry, anise spice and vanilla on the nose. Rich, black fruit and spice, lingering to a silky vanilla oak finish.

My go-to Zin. You can literally buy this at Costco, great bang for your buck. I recommend opening 4-5 years +, I am currently drinking my 2009 & 2010 vintages.

This is Four Vines 2010 biker Zinfandel from Paso Robles! The cork was not perfect and had a 2 cm absorption line. The color was dark purple, almost opaque with a hint of brown like an old world Italian Chianti. The legs are slow, thick, and long. The bouquet is plumb and licorice. This threw me off but as soon as I put it in my mouth...BANG! Smooth as silk, spicy like red pepper, and tongue tingling deliciousness! The initial palate was very boysenberry and almost ripe plumb - the elongated dark purple ones. The finish was long with a blast of red pepper and spice and as the wine maker says, ...a long trail of oak! Absolutely no sourness, no tannic acid, and no sweet restaurant wine finish. I am surprised that I would like a plumb flavored wine, but the bone dry finish makes it a perfect wine. What a different flavor this has. I did not decant it and I Should have. The longer it sits in the glass, the better it tastes. Im moving it from my original 9.3 to a 9.8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have to try this wine! And did I mention its only 25 dollars a bottle?

This is what Paso Robles Zinfandel is about. Rich aromatic spicy and smooth. Four Vines is a fun and different winery too. Not so serious a place considering the quality of the wine.

Too bold if you don't let it sit, otherwise quite good.
