One of the best red buys from Spain we've found this year - hurry! 93 Points Robert Parker: "Wow! I’ve loved this wine in the past and the 2013, a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 12 months in French oak, is stunning, simply over-delivering in so many different ways. This wine, which offers up copious quantities, of blueberry, black raspberry and black currant fruit, licorice, graphite and meaty notes, offers fabulous aromatics, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, beautiful, pure texture and a long, heady finish with subtle oak. What’s amazing is the French oak is all two-year-old, super-expensive Darnajou barrels. For $20 this is another amazing offering from Spain and from importer Eric Solomon. Normally, one would expect to pay $75 to $150 for a wine that tastes like this, but this beauty can be yours for $20 or less!

Dark ruby color with a bit of orange/brown rim. Aggressive oak notes upfront, baking spices and sweet cinnamon. Given some time, there are ripe raspberry, sour cherry, cranberry, tar, cedar box and a hint of rose petals. Super tight on the palate with huge amounts of tannins all over the mouth. Nice complexity on this price point though. Need a big steak for sure. 13.5% abv

Still too young. A lot of smoke and tobacco on the nose. Tanning still too strong and stiff.

A bit unbalanced and the nose smells a bit too much like a wine cellar. Maybe it could use a few years on the shelf. Nonetheless, it's nice and full, and hits a few interesting earthy notes, despite lacking overall charisma.

Color: Crimson red. Nose/Smell: A little expresso, dark chocolate, graphite and plums. After opening up for a couple hours some meaty notes appeared. Palate/Taste: Started off a little fruity with plums and then had some dark chocolate. After opening up and breathing it became more savory. Moderate tannins (6/10) and moderate body. Most of activity in this wine occurs in the mid palate where it continues to develop. Dry (6/10) and moderate finish. Opinion: This wine is 90% Tempranillo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. We are trying to explore more wine regions. This is a well structured tempranillo that you can taste how the Cabernet Sauvignon adds to the structure of this wine, beefing it up a little bit. Delicious and need to grab a couple for some aging.

Open it when the sun is still up. Typical spicy Tempranillo - matches nicely with Thai food :b
