Rare Magnums of Far Niente 2012 Cabernet now available - limited!94+ Points Robert Parker: "A great effort from Far Niente in this truly magnificent vintage, with its similarities to 2002, the Far Niente Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon has a dense purple color, plenty of structure and aging potential, and an impressive inner core of sweet crème de cassis fruit, licorice and background vanilla. This wine is still very much an infant in its evolution, and should keep for 20-30 years. Many 2012s are excessively generous, open-knit and fleshy, but this is holding a lot back. And wow, it is “locked and loaded.” I wouldn’t be surprised to see this wine increase in score in about 5-10 years, and actually merit an even higher score. Bravo!"Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon is grown primarily on the estate Stelling Vineyard, located behind the winery in Oakville. This 100-acre vineyard produces wines that exhibit the cassis, blackberry and "dusty" components typical of wines grown in the soils of western Oakville. In 2009, cooler temperatures in August and September contributed to a slightly later start to harvest than usual, but a nice heat spike in mid-September really kicked the vines into gear. The result? 2009 looks like a dream vintage for Napa Cabernet and the Far Niente is a intense, plush and silky Cabernet, with a velvety mouthfeel and a palate bursting with blackberry and black cherry fruit, around a dense core of chewy tannins. The last 2 vintages have been rated 93+ points by Wine Spectator and this one is sure to score off the charts!

Best Monday lunch shift I’ve ever worked. And they left me a sip too, so now I can confirm that the 2010 vintage is ready and willing. What a sublime experience this wine will offer you. Tongue tingling up to ten mins after that sip. Full, and absolutely gorgeous.

Amazing how great this was without any decanting or anything. Popped and poured to get some big fruit toward the end of the night and it did not disappoint.

I wish that it wasn't so spot on right now. A stand alone wine after dinner. Dark dark black fruit medium full body, a little leaner than years past. The balanced oak profile is hitting the spot. Perfect dessert.

Exquisite. Coming into its own age-wise. Still has 10-15 years of aging left. Worth every penny!
