F. Thienpont Bordeaux Merlot Cabernet Franc 2011
From the family reponsible for some of Bordeaux's top wines like le Pin and the 100-point Vieux Chateau Certan, this is a fantastic $20 Bordeaux. A Brix26 exclusive. The red wine from Thienpont comes from a clay and limestone plateau in the Entre-Deux-Mers The grapes are 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon fermented in stainless steel and aged for 7 months. This is a perfect every day red with beef and barbecue.

This rouge feels a little thin. It is Merlot and Cab Franc, with Bordeaux appellation only. It is fine, but a little odd with merlot and cab franc the only varietals. Table wine to be sure, and really as pedestrian as one would want, without crossing into traffic. Cherry blueberry cola with plum and clay.
