Evening Land Vineyards Seven Springs Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021

$42

94 Points - limited                   The Evening Land Seven Springs Vineyard Pinot Noir, Eola-Amity Hills.  One of the top rated Pinots from Oregon. 94 Points Wine Spectator "Highly Recommended":  "Elegant and refined in structure, this opens with vibrant rose petal and raspberry scents and leads to intriguing layers of black cherry, crushed stone and savory spice. Finishes with fine-grained tannins." 92 Points Robert Parker: " Medium ruby-purple, the Evening Land Pinot Noir Seven Springs Estate has aromas of crunchy cranberries, raspberries and blackberries with accents of fragrant earth, violets, peppercorn, saline and bitters. Medium-bodied and silky, it offers loads of ripe fruits tempered by earthy accents, with grainy tannins and sip-me-again acidity, finishing long. Grapes for this cuvée were mostly destemmed and come from both older and younger vines."

It’s really good, but I wonder if we have a bad bottle? There seems to be some prickly effervescence that doesn’t go away after being open for a day. I’m going to look past it, but I’ll come back to future bottles we have. Medium rubied color with initial Pinot funk smells: mushrooms, potpourri, cherry, and earth. Has a minerally zing to it, tea, and cranberry. Drinks a little warm. I’ll sit on my other 2021s for another year or two and try again. This might just be too young.

Medium Ruby with ripe berry fruit flavors, some tea, floral and spice notes. On the palate flavors of cherry, cranberry and raspberry with earthy herbs and citrus notes. Fine integrated tannins on medium+ finish ending with fruit and earthy character. Nice!

2021. Recommended by Paul to pair with our various entrées. This young Pinot had a great cherry cola aroma and we all loved it. Went great with my tea-smoked duck.
